My beater is a 2001 chevy blazer 4x4, and this past weekend the PCM appears to have died.

new PCM's are rediculously expensive, BUT a company called wait4me performance (www.wait4meperformance.com (http://www.wait4meperformance.com)) sells cores with custom tunes on them for $160 delivered.

So I'll let you all know how it works out, here's their claims I got via email for my truck -

Kevin,
We can help you out! The only problem is, is that Jesse is a couple of days behind so I don't know if we could get it out before this weekend. We do sell the PCM, tuned and shipping for $160 and we can set up the tune for everything that you want!
Here is some info on what we can do for typical mileage and horsepower gains:
87-90 octanes will get 1-2 miles per gallon better gas mileage and 10-15 more horse power.
91-93 octanes will get 2-4 miles per gallon better gas mileage and 15-20 more horse power.
This will vary depending on driving habits and quality of gas used. Using 10% or higher ethanol content decrease gas mileage as it is a filler. You are never locked into 1 or 2 different octanes of gas, Jesse makes the PCM a lot smarter than stock. Any time you change the octane of gas the PCM will automatically adjust all of the parameters for that octane so you will always see the maximum benefits every time.

Replacement PCMs for 1996 - 2006 GM vehicles are $160.00 shipped. Jesse is around 6-10 days behind in shipping out tuned cores. You can keep your stock PCM and the W4M PCM for the $160.00.

We have free updates for the life that you own the vehicle, we ask for $10.00 for return shipping and a list of what you want change and a phone number and return address.

We accept Paypal to hannahbubb@yahoo.com or checks or money orders to:
Jesse Bubb
W4M Performance
23 EMS C22 Lane
Warsaw IN 46582

We do need the following info in with your payment so Jesse can customize the tune for what you want:
1. VIN Number
2. Any Modifications
3. Tire Size
4. Rear End Gear Ratios (if changed from stock)
5. What you would like to see out of the tune.
6. Phone number and return address

Please let me know if you have any more questions!
Thank you!

So what I ordered was -
2. Modifications- TB blade mod, "cold air intake", electric fan
3. Tires 235/75 R15
4. Stock 373 gears
5. delete T/M, better fuel economy, increase trans l/p, 87 octane. PCM died so I need a replacement, car is a stock daily driver so keep trans mods mild and reliable pls

(I was limited to 300 characters in the paypal payment box, wtf)

guys on s10forums.com saw 1/4 second faster in 1/8 mile with this PCM vs stock, even with back to back swaps at the track -

ok, track results are in.....
Fri. night T&T. passes were "back to Back", with no other changes made.
8 passes total. only stopped long enough to swap out the PCM`s...

Run#...PCM.....60ft.......1/8...........MPH

1..........W4M....2.245...10.174......67.97
2..........W4M....2.250...10.169......67.54
3..........W4M....2.270...10.201......67.29

4..........stock....2.301...10.402......66.47
5..........stock....2.317...10.447......66.30
6..........stock....2.315...10.459......66.00

7..........W4M.....2.242...10.151.....67.34
8..........W4M.....2.235...10.134.....67.59

as you can see, the W4M PCM was good for about a quarter second gain in the 1/8th mile. the gain would be even greater in the 1/4 mi.

you may also notice that these times did not beat my previous best of 10.02, which is entirely due to the
hot, humid weather, whereas my 10.02 pass was made in late winter, with very cool, dry air....
if i had the Wait4 Me PCM then, i would have certainly been solidly in the 9.70`s.

so, horrible name for a tuning company, but I'm going to give it a shot.
