View Full Version : Coil Overs

I'm going to do coil overs on my 03 GT. After putting a 70 lb. KB on the front, I need to get the weight back of her.
I don't want a full drag suspension but, I do plan to race a few times each year. I need something that will give me some weight transfer at launch but will also work as a DD.
Any suggestions from you gear heads out there? What should I do for the front and then give me some ideas for the rear.

No way. The KB was by far the best mod I've ever done. Should of done it the first thing.
I'm thinking the best way to go is Tokico drag struts and a MM coil over kit. Not sure on the spring weight.

Rusty... do you still have the battery in the engine bay?

I'm running Coil Overs front and rear from Maximum.
Best thing to do would be to call them and discuss your plans for the car. They will STEER ( ) you in the direction of what will work best for you.

Yes. Its the Odyssey PC 680. Only 11 lbs.

nice... shaves a few pounds off.
I'd suggest 250# springs with bilsteins, should be soft enough for good weight transfer but still let you turn occasionally :)

What about an adjustable rate setup?
What about an adjustable rate setup?
some shocks/struts are adjustable but the spring rates aren't unless you physically swap the springs

For the springs, ya. But, adjusting the struts to allow more lift in the front, when at the strip then firming-it-up, when on the road might do what he's looking for. But hey, swapping springs is simple, right
coil over springs are really simple, you just unbolt the shocks/struts at the bottom then undo the collar and the spring falls off the shock/strut.
good adjustable shocks/struts are $$$, the koni's are double adjustable while the other brands like tokiko illumina's are only adjustable on dampening, not rebound. QA1's are pretty good too but are more drag oriented from what I've read and I think you can only use their coil-over setup, not MMR/Granatelli or MM's setups.

Hey Ernie, thanks for the offer. I'm going to give MM a call and see what they suggest. I want a strut/spring combo that has some adjustability and will give me some good weight transfer at launch and will let me drive it home from the track as well. I'm working in Colorado right now but, I'll be back in town next week.
