Well, I was bored... so I did a foo foo make it pretty mod today. I like the look of the Shelby POWERED BY SVT coil covers on the GT500s. They are way cool compared to the bland stock V8 logo sets on the '03/'04 Cobras. So, I ordered the GT500 units, and did a little paint mod to them prior to install.

They come with a really nice gray powder coat. But, I painted them black. Here is a stock one, along with the first one I painted.

I then cleaned the paint off all the letters (back down to the powder coat). I then painted the SVT letters red. I used my Cobra R's touch up paint. Again.. the stock one is there for comparison.

And... installed on the mill.....

I had to laugh while prepping and painting them both though. I knew the passenger side coil cover would be pretty much burried. And, I was right. Good thing I spent so long making it look nice.

I saw those over the weekend and wondered what they would look like on the Cobra... now I know! They look aweseome! Nice work!! I wonder how many other Terminators have gone this route?

I've seen a couple on SVTP. But, never any in person. It's great to use others as the test mules. LOL

I'm thinking about buying another set for the R... and leaving them in the gray powder coat.

Thanks for being the mule for me 8-) Did you use masking gel or tape on the letters?

On the first cover I painted I used a light wheel bearing grease on the tops of the letters. After the paint dried I wiped off the grease, revealing the letters. It worked OK, but not great. For the next one I used blue tape. I put a 1" wide strip, about 10 inches long, across the tops of the letters. I then used a really sharp exacto knife to cut out each letter from the tape. It took FOREVER, but ended up looking really good.

The letters are pretty short off the deck of the cover. It's tough to get the edges of the letters either all painted, or all not!

I think it gained at least another 25hp. Wouldn't have done it otherwise. HA HA!!

Oh ya... is that why the fins run front to back, to provide better air flow and dynamics?

Those came out looking really good.

I have the 'Powered By Ford' ones from the FGT, but don't have them painted. I am terrible with that kind of stuff.

I'm a little late, but those look killer! I wish I had as much time as I did before to work on my car. My car is getting neglected it seems like. I need paint, radiator, engine, tranny, etc, etc lol
