I'll be there! But only with the GT.

I also noticed that they printed our name and address on the mirror card this year. Any reason why they did this?

I have never been to this show but some guys were talking and said it's best to get there saturday eve and cruise because its pretty crazy that night??

Powershift03

Yep, scope out the nearby hotel parking lots. They are like car shows of their own!

Glenn_03Cobra
04-13-09, 12:32 PM
Julie and I try to go there the day before and have been on a couple of the cruises during the day (there's a few of them). Although I've heard that the night scene is crazy, I wasn't able to find it. Until you mentioned, I forgot that I was going to check into that to see where everyone will be. If someone knows, post it up here. Otherwise, I'll report back here, when I get some answers ;)

It's at 165 now? That's incredible! Way-ta get on the map (again), Craig!

Dave & Busters is a great place to end the cruise! The parking lot gets jammed all weekend, are they going to rope-off the lot for all the cars participating? One helluva weekend!!!

WIKDVNM
04-13-09, 05:21 PM
Not sure whats going on with D&B thats something 281 Motorsports has set up with Mustang World.

165 is alot.... last year I lead 83 cars so this will be a big challenge, we have 2 clubs coming from Washington State to join us and a members from Canada also.... that alone is the largest accomplishment and compliment to me, seeing clubs from out of state make the drive to join us.

Although I was in the Navy I do know a couple of things from working in the legal department.

1. Anything under 24 hours is a page 13 (nor sure what the marines call it.)
2. Page 13s fall out of jackets all the time when transitioning to a new command. Must be bad paper or something.
3. Over 30 days absent is considered a deserter. This is a bad position to be in, just to be safe make sure you make it back on day 28.

Anyways it sucks that you can't make it, hope to see you at one of these shows. Not this one, don't risk any trouble while you're in.

As for this weekend, I'll be down sometime on Saturday afternoon. I figured if I didn't stay down there I would never make it on Sunday before the end of the show. I look forward to seeing everyone, especially Craig's new motor.

Oh please don't go UA.... When I was acting Platoon SGT my last year in we had a guy run, we got a call from his Mom telling us he was at the LA Airport... We had to beat feet up there and snatched him up.

I may have missed it somewhere...is anyone cruising together to Techno?

Glenn_03Cobra
04-14-09, 11:20 PM
Many of the guys/gals going to Techno are probably going straight to Techno. However, the NorCal guys will probably cruise from their hotel by Knott's to Techno. During the Techno gig, Julie and I will be helping the council prep for the Knott's show on Sunday. Otherwise, we would definitely hookup with you guys!

Yea that's how it is with us. But it's a page 11, I think you can get like 1 page 11 within a 30 day period without getting NJP'd. Don't quote me on that though.

I added up totals for cars entered at Knott's and it is 1812! 96 were Cobras and about 1000 were Mustangs of all varieties.

The Cobra area looked AWESOME but WHERE were the Comp Orange guys????? We needed that color to offset the Mystics and Sonics lol. I was so glad to see a drink booth set up in The Snake Pit, too. We will keep trying to make people aware of the Cobra area and bring in new ideas, we have different ones in the works. The easiest would be a large blown-up map of the area placed at strategic areas around the parking lot to make the public aware of Area 51.

If you guys have ideas/suggestions for the Cobra area of FFF in general, post them up here. Glenn and I are on the Council and we can present your ideas to the other Council members.

I'm sorry I missed it this year, the ventura county corporate games tournament started up this weekend and our basketball team did well on saturday, so I had 2 games in the morning on Sunday and I was wiped out for the rest of the day and didn't head down, haha. We got 4th, but should have been 3rd, we lost the bronze game by 6 points :( 2 of the guys that played sat. couldn't on sunday so we had no subs, oh well it was fun :)

Next year they should put the Mach's and Bullitt's near area 51 since they are related, then maybe late models, foxes, etc.... from there. you definitely need more signs, if I didn't have you guys parked there I would have missed it. Great show, worth the drive.

Julie GT07CS
04-23-09, 11:26 AM
I have a couple of ideas stewing in my brain for next year. I will present them at the next council meeting in June. If they go for it, attendance in Area 51 should greatly improve! :D

04-25-09, 12:32 AM
What I noticed this year was the lack of cars on display on the path to where the Cobras were....In the past two years, there were Cobra placed on the pathway that leads to the area......When I saw Glenn in the infield I had to ask where his car was on display because I didn't notice any on the pathway that led over there....It seems that this year they changed things around and when people see empty spaces, they will skip it......Once you walked past SMS display, there was empty spaces and then the pathway with no signs indicating more cars this way........Plus the heat this year didn't help.... Can't control mother nature.................Just my thoughts....

Julie GT07CS
04-25-09, 08:20 AM
Frank, that is such an obvious omission! Why the heck didn't we do that??????? Next year for SURE we'll have a car parked at the entrance to Independence Hall, with a couple more "snaking" back. We are planning on more signs, too.

Glenn_03Cobra
04-25-09, 11:02 AM
Parking a car at the entrance is a great idea. We can't park in areas that block pedestrian pathways and we definitely don't want to park where pedestrians (kids) constantly walk close to the car(s) to get back into Area 51. This year and last, we started parking cars starting where the Water Park ticket booth and the duck pond are located. There are a couple of safe parking locations in the pathway but, we'll need to find volunteers that won't mind parking their Cobras away from the others.

This is the first year we've used signs for the Cobra area. Next year's signage will be much better. We'll definitely be putting the signs up higher.

What about ropping off a bit of the area out front.. between where the Saleen display was, and the entrance to the SVT section. That would keep people from scratching the car(s), and still attract them back to the Cobra section to see the other cars. ??

I wouldn't want the ropes or stands to fall over on anyone, tripping anyone, or hitting the cars. I'm pretty sure that's the council and Knott's concern. But, we'll certainly bring it up. Hey Marlon... any thoughts?
