Hmmm, Suspension, That is the question, What exactly are you looking for, Do you want to really drive the car and make it handle around your favorite turns, and add big sway bars and heavy duty coil springs & shocks and lower it a bit? Or maybe you want to drive around town like a normal person would and just don’t need all of that custom stuff? Then maybe a stock suspension is what you are looking for, and have no need to be doing Mach 1 with your hair on fire, hahaha.
Well I am going to try and maybe answer a few of the questions that you may have in this short article. Whatever you are looking for, ask questions. You’re not dumb, you can tell when someone knows what they are talking about and when they are not.
We all see Mustangs, Fairlanes, Cougars, Falcons, of all years and we all know what we like when we see it. Sometimes our taste is more expensive than we are able to admit to ourselves, But suspensions, like most mods, are things that you don’t want to work on more than once and would like to last for many years to come... You want to get the best and longest lasting suspension parts and service as possible!
There are so many choices out there today that most people are making quick decisions on and purchasing suspension kits that don’t have everything they need to complete their project. Unfortunately, people sometimes purchase parts to complete a kit but, later learn that the parts are not compatible with the kit that they had just purchased. Not to mention the frustration of mis-fitting parts that come in the.
At Marlo's Frame & Alignment, I have restored and customized many suspensions to the customers’ requests and liking. The most popular way to have to ensure that a suspension system handle very well and last for many years to come is to use polyurethane bushings, They help in making the car handle really nice around turns and straight line driving with little or no alignment deflection. Installing polyurethane bushings ensures for a better tire wear and a long lasting suspension!
I have been working with polyurethane products since 1984, they are not all created equally. I have my own special process in installing them and have created the best and most effective way in doing it. So when people tell you that polyurethane squeaks and makes noise, they have either had someone do it wrong for them or have been misinformed. They do not squeak! When done right. Heavy Duty Sway Bars along with Front and Rear and Lowering springs are a major help to make the vehicle handle well, then there is setting up the alignment to enhance the modifications that you have made to your vehicle insuring that it drives straight and saves on tire wear.
Based on my years of experience and technical knowledge behind Ford suspensions, Marlo's Frame & Alignment manufactures its own custom suspension system for the classic Mustangs & Fords. Send me a PM or give me a call at 818-341-0940 and ask about my "Fly-Ford Classic Blue Printed Suspension." Each car I install this kit on, including my own '65 Mustang articulates very well. The kit comes with CNC machined parts with a zero tolerance, it helps to remove 99.9% of bump steer, which gives you a nice smooth handling ride and yet corners extremely well. All movable components come with all grease zerk fittings including the spring perch, giving you a completely serviceable suspension system
