Glenn and I joined the Tri-County Mustang club in the 2010 Camarillo Christmas Parade in sunny Southern California. Nine members showed up with sparkling clean Mustangs ready to roll down Las Posas Road in Camarillo. TCMC members have quite a few classic Mustangs but, to balance things out, there were a few bad boys in the mix. A nice selection of Mustangs, lots of Christmas decorations! It looked pretty cool going down the street and the the thousands that lined the streets loved the show!

The parade started at 11am with a fly-over of 2 vintage fighter planes. There were lots of other types of vehicles featured in the parade this year. Model A's, Thunderbirds, Volkswagen Beetles, Mustangs, two 4x4 clubs, movie Star Cars, Corvettes, and fire equipment!

The weather was incredible, close to 80* by estimate. We heard reports one spectator needed ambulance assistance and another parade participant needed aide directly after the parade. Both emergencies were heat related. The parade was halted for approx 20 minutes while the ambulance cut through the crowds to help the spectator. We hope those two are feeling much better by now!

We started at the corner of Temple Ave and Las Posas Road and continued down Las Posas and took a left on Carmen Drive which led us to the Camarillo Community Center. That is where the parade disperses. The route stretched just over 3 miles and gave us a nice one-hour cruise. Once we wiped the smiles off our faces and rested our arms from waving, we pulled into the Community Center parking lot with all the other floats, cars, etc. Our group pulled-in next to the High School marching bad buses; that area quickly filled-up.

It was interesting to see so many dogs along the parade route this year. A wide array of dogs on leashes, lined the streets everywhere! Great Danes, rottweilers, poodles, beagles, Australian Shepard's, cattle dogs...all sorts! That made it even more fun to interact with the spectators. A few revs didn't seem to bother then at all

We can't wait for next year's parade! We already have some good ideas for decorating...

Here are a couple shots to tide you over until Glenn loads his photos.
