• IndyCar loses a two-time Indinapolis 500 winner in a horrific crash

The hearts of GearHeads around the world are with Dan Wheldon's wife and family tonight after a tragic accident. Although racing is a dangerous sport, we make choices to live life to it's fullest. Indycar racing was Dan's way of maximizing life. I've always believed that success is measured by the memories left behind. Thank you for the great memories Dan!

Today's horrific IndyCar crash involving 15 cars including Dan Wheldon is a reminder to all of us that we don't and can't know when our last moments will be upon us and to live every moment as if our last. What started with two cars touching on Lap 11, the chain reaction sent several cars into the air with Dan's car hitting the catch fence. Ventura County local Charlie Kimball was also part of the 15 car field of flames, but walked away with minimal physical injury.

IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard announced that Dan Wheldon had passed away and reported the decision that the race was ruled incomplete giving the title to Dario Franchitti. After the announcement of Wheldon's death, drivers with undamaged cars circled the track five-times, honoring Wheldon.
