Each year, during the holidays Car Clubs and organizations reach out to GearHeads across America to help those in need during the holidays. Charity car events are quite common throughout the year; however, the holidays are cold and lonely for so many. There's no doubt that GearHeads know how to rev-it-up for those in need.

An important charity event that we recently attended was the Ventura County Coachmen's 3rd Annual Food Drive and Cruise at Islands Restaurant in Newbury Park held Nov 19, 2011 from 4:00 - 6:00pm. The Coachmen hold charity events throughout the year including two holiday events - this Food Drive benefiting MANNA and a Toy Drive, which will be held on Dec 10th. The Coachmen events are normally held during daylight, but since this was a special event, they brought some lights and lit-up the parking lot so we could see all the cool cars on display. A large-sized MANNA delivery truck was onsite to collect non-perishable food for MANNA recipients.

Cars piled into the parking lot and MANNA truck filled-up quickly. Larry Taylor, a fellow GearHead member tells us he reached deep into his pantry and filled-up a bag of food for the event. Larry brought his beautiful '98 convertible Corvette and plans to bring his '99 Harley Heritage Classic to a 1916 Motorcycle Club Charity Toy Event in Sherman Oaks in Dec. Noel and Rikki also attended this event bringing food to donate and Noel's 1972 El Camino. Noel's ride is listed for sale on this site (CLICK HERE for details) check it out.

After each Coachmen Islands Restaurant Cruise event, the Coachmen gather inside for some great food and drinks. All who attend these cruises are invited into the restaurant during the event. Be sure to give them your 20% Coachmen Event Discount coupon!
