Here's the first few photos for the Johnny Rockets Camarillo Toy Drive event held on Dec 17th. Close to 40 cars attended... not bad for a last minute event!

Each year, during the holidays Car Clubs and organizations reach out to GearHeads across America to help those in need during the holidays. Charity car events are quite common throughout the year; however, the holidays are cold and lonely for so many. There's no doubt that GearHeads know how to rev-it-up for those in need.

An important charity event that we recently attended was the Ventura County Coachmen's 3rd Annual Food Drive and Cruise at Islands Restaurant in Newbury Park held Nov 19, 2011 from 4:00 - 6:00pm. The Coachmen hold charity events throughout the year including two holiday events - this Food Drive benefiting MANNA and a Toy Drive, which will be held on Dec 10th. The Coachmen events are normally held during daylight, but since this was a special event, they brought some lights and lit-up the parking lot so we could see all the cool cars on display. A large-sized MANNA delivery truck was onsite to collect non-perishable food for MANNA recipients.

With several years experience leading and participating in large clubs as well as organizing events for West Coast GearHeads Magazine, Julie has accepted the position of club president for the Tri-County Mustang Club. Julie's creative talents and leadership skills will lend well to her new position. Over the years, Julie has become well known in the Mustang community and has some cool plans for the 2012 year.

This past Sunday (Oct 16) was a very sad day in racing.

While the tragic death of Dan Wheldon made national news, another pair of racing greats passed this past Sunday. Brothers Jeff and Rick Huseman died in a plane crash while returning from a Lucas Oil race in Arizona. Rick was second in points standings in the series and both brothers were well liked by fans and competitors alike. We have been asked to pass along the below message from the race series about a benefit event held in their honor.

The hearts of GearHeads around the world are with Dan Wheldon's wife and family tonight after a tragic accident. Although racing is a dangerous sport, we make choices to live life to it's fullest. Indycar racing was Dan's way of maximizing life. I've always believed that success is measured by the memories left behind. Thank you for the great memories Dan!

The Swift Racing Team takes 3rd in their class and 5th over all among 164. With a time of 10:12:27.918, the team (John Swift, Steve Olliges, Daniel Ellsworth Llewellyn, and Jonathan Swift) tear-up the course with their Ford truck. The leading time was 9:52:39.056 with the Swift Team trailing by only 20:48. Nice work guys!
