Took over 100 photos of some ver cool cars at the Coachmen Car Club's Islands Car Meet in Newbury Park on May 7th. The Coachmen's meet is on the 1st Saturday of every month. We arrived just in time to shoot over 100 photos before it got too dark. I hear there were just under 150 cars, even with the cloud cover and lower temps (hey, it's So Cal )

May 1st was a busy day for West Coast GearHeads. We started the day with the Tri-County Mustang Club on a cruise, which took us to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory in T.O then the back way through beautiful Potrero Rd. to the Lions ROP Car show at the Camarillo Airport. We arrived at the ROP show about an hour before the exhibitors packed-up and hit the pavement, but got there just in time to capture all the cars in attendance. I love this show as I know it's always full of very cool cars!

The West Coast GearHeads Crew was on site at the Fabulous Fords Forever Car Show at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA on Sunday April 10th, 2011. Just under 1,700 awesome Ford cars and trucks attended and they brought some great weather with them. This year's FFF car show celebrated anniversaries of four models - Pantera (40th), Pinto (40th), Bronco (45th), and the Econoline Van (50th). The Fabulous Fords Forever Car Show is sponsored by the Southern California Ford Dealers and organized by Ford Car Clubs all over SoCal. This is a non-profit car show that brings an awesome display of privately owned Ford cars and trucks to one place for all to see.

Hey GearHeads -

After a great week at SEMA and full day at the Optima Invitational, we have a tons of notes, photos, manufacturer info, product info, interviews, and press releases so it's gonna take some time to get the articles ready for our new online magazine due out in December. In the meantime, check out these photos. Keep checking back, we'll put more up in the next few days.

The flight... eh, drive out to Vegas was smooth sailing; no traffic or other issues. Got in late Sunday night and was ready to roll Monday morning. SEMA opened the doors to the main halls on Tuesday but, those clever enough to show-up on Monday were treated to a Mustang drifting exhibit and an off-road performance course featuring the Raptor, courtesy of Ford.

On Saturday, October 16 the Montalvo Square in Ventura had a Family Fun Day. Sponsored by Cumulous Radio and Paradise Chevrolet, the event drew hundreds of fun-seeking spectators. A car show was included, organized by Skeeter Radar and the Big City Boys. Approximately 50 immaculate classic cars showed up for the special event. Overcast skies and the threat of rain did not hold off car buffs from coming and seeing hot cars and voting on their favorites.

Set on the grass under sunny skies at the beautiful Ventura Harbor Village, Tri County Mustang Club put on another great event! This was the 26th year for Ponies By The Sea. There were 100+ Mustangs and Fords entered in the show. This event has been a favorite for many years as you will see from the pictures in this article. Lots of GearHeads and a great time had by all!

Where were you on Friday night, July 9th? If you were at Chuy's in Simi Valley then you were in the right place!. Like a finely tuned engine, the Coachmen Car Club put on great event to celebrate the newly U.S. Senate declared National Collector Car Appreciation Day! With Skeeter Radar at the helm and the help of Chuy's Mesquite Broiler in Simi Valley California, local car clubs, and some help from WestCoastGearHeads.com well over 340 cars and GearHeads attended this special event.

I have never taken a particular interest in automobiles. They were simply something that got me from one place to another. I admired some of the colors and the lines of the car, but that is where it remained.
If a car was to be purchased, it was bought by my husband or family member for me. I could not see myself haggling over the price or being concerned about the mileage. I simply left it to someone else.

I did not imagine that this interest in cars would change dramatically in the latter part of my life, but it has. A week or so back, I was invited by my friend Lee Horn to accompany him in a parade of Mustang cars to Santa Barbara for the Wheels and Waves Car Show. He has been a longtime collector of classic cars, and this time he would be driving a 1968 Mustang in the parade. I love new experiences so I met him at the appointed place where the Tri-County Mustang Club was congregating for the parade. Different colors, different styles — it was a candy jar for the car enthusiast.

We drove together up Pacific Coast Highway toward Santa Barbara, each car conforming to the speed limit and trying to avoid the copious potholes along the way. I truly thought Lee’s car was the prettiest. It was presidential blue. The leather interior shone, and the chrome features competed for attention. It was, quite obviously, a car that had received loving attention through the years. I was proud to be sitting in the passenger seat of this beauty.

On Saturday May 1st, Ray McClelland, owner of Full Throttle Kustomz pulled together a few GearHeads and organized a cruise that started in Simi Valley, did all the cool twisties through Mulholland Drive and Decker Canyon down to Neptune's Net on PCH for lunch then led us back up the twisites right by the Rock Store and finished at the Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas for dinner and live music.

Joining us was John Temple with Legend Mustangs (http://www.legendmustangs.com). Temple Performance Cars are known for their unique style and extreme power. It was a treat to spend time with John!
