    It is so sad to report that Carrol Shelby passed away. After several months of health challenges / complications with pneumonia, etc. Mr. Shelby lost his battle on Thursday May 10, 2012. A legend in his own time, who's Shelby Cobra, GT-40, and Mustang Cobras had changed the automotive performance and racing industry forever, leaves behind a strong legacy. Shelby's passion created unique performance cars that have already entered into the history books.

    Mr. Shelby was the longest surviving heart transplant recipient. After his transplant, Mr. Shelby created The Carroll Shelby Foundation in 1981, which provides "...assistance for acute coronary and kidney care for young people who share many of the same afflictions" (https://www.facebook.com/CarrollShel...dation?sk=info). Mr. Shelby had lived a long and very successful life leaving behind behind so many memories for all to enjoy! Rest in Peace Carroll Shelby.

    Year 2012 will be the 48th time the Los Angeles Roadsters Car Club has produced its world-renowned show and the 33rd year it will be held at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. The show will be held on Father's Day Weekend, Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th for your enjoyment.

    California Bill to Exempt pre-1981 Vehicles From Emissions Inspection Requirement Fails Committee Vote; Granted Reconsideration

    According to SEMA -> Legislation (S.B. 1224) to exempt all motor vehicles prior to the 1981 model year from the emissions inspection requirement has been granted reconsideration after failing to be approved by a Senate Transportation and Housing Committee vote. The bill failed on a 3-4 vote, with two committee members not voting. The bill will be reconsidered in a future committee hearing. Those who voted in favor of the bill are Senators Gaines, Harman and Wyland. Those who voted against are Senators DeSaulnier, Lowenthal, Pavley and Simitian. Senators Kehoe and Rubio did not vote on the bill.

    Each year, during the holidays Car Clubs and organizations reach out to GearHeads across America to help those in need during the holidays. Charity car events are quite common throughout the year; however, the holidays are cold and lonely for so many. There's no doubt that GearHeads know how to rev-it-up for those in need.

    An important charity event that we recently attended was the Ventura County Coachmen's 3rd Annual Food Drive and Cruise at Islands Restaurant in Newbury Park held Nov 19, 2011 from 4:00 - 6:00pm. The Coachmen hold charity events throughout the year including two holiday events - this Food Drive benefiting MANNA and a Toy Drive, which will be held on Dec 10th. The Coachmen events are normally held during daylight, but since this was a special event, they brought some lights and lit-up the parking lot so we could see all the cool cars on display. A large-sized MANNA delivery truck was onsite to collect non-perishable food for MANNA recipients.

    While the tragic death of Dan Wheldon made national news, another pair of racing greats passed this past Sunday. Brothers Jeff and Rick Huseman died in a plane crash while returning from a Lucas Oil race in Arizona. Rick was second in points standings in the series and both brothers were well liked by fans and competitors alike.
