    Maximum Motorsports IRS Tie Rods

While the IRS was up in the air I figured it was a good time to toss the old Tie Rods and replaced them with the Maximum Motorsports Adjustable Tie Rods. These MM pieces feel lighter than stock, and are a lot beefier. They allow for bumpsteer adjustment, which is nice for fine tuning the suspension.

Stronger, Lighter, Adjustable - sounds good.

    MM (top) vs. Stock (bottom):

    Closeup of end:

Installation isn't too bad. The stock Tie Rods need to be removed. A Tie Rod puller on the steering knuckle makes it fairly easy. The inside mount is a simple nut and bolt.

    New Tapered Stud for knuckle:

    Installing new Stud:

MM includes 2 nuts to hold the stud in place while tightening the lock nut on the top:

Inner mount (For 03/04 Cobras, the stock [black] spacer is used along with one MM spacer. 3 spacers are then placed below the Heim Joint. The arrangement differs for 99/01):

    MM Tie Rod in place:

    Almost there

    Nice! Thanks Mr. Dogg...
I don't see any lube. How does the pivot perform, when it gets dirty?
Also, on hard jolts around corners, will the 3 spacers hold? I wonder if there's any shifting. In the top two pics, all of the spacers are lined-up but, in the 2nd to last pic, the bottom spacers is off a bit. I'm just curious if over time, it would tend to shift.

MMS components are top notch street gear so, I don't doubt the quality... just curious.

No lube on the spherical bearings, I believe they are teflon lined. They should be fine.

The spacers are only to adjust the height of the inner tie rod. They are adjustable by moving the arrangement of the spacers both on the inner/outer mounts. Once torqued the bolt will be what is carrying the load.

I get to install these on my car tomorrow, as I bent the passenger side one into a pretzel on the first track day I took the car to with the IRS. I'll be happy to finally get rid of the -wicked- bumpsteer that has been causing LOL

got a set of MM poly spring isolators to throw in both ends as well, which should hopefully give me a bit better ground clearance as my IRS didn't come with iso's (p/o of it threw them out). I'm hoping to get enough ground clearance to stop hitting my front X brace everywhere.

I like my comparison picture better than yours, lol.

very easy upgrade, I didn't buy the bump steer gauge so I just have it setup with the 3 under 1 over spacer arrangement on the inner rod end, we'll see how that goes.

You have to keep the stock rod for your 'oops' memorial.

Love the MM pieces, they look great and a VERY stout.

it looks good next to my busted stock rear sway bar from after the first time I took this car through decker canyon a week after I got it running LOL

I didn't hit anything then either, just really aggressive driving...I'm pretty good at finding weak suspension parts

Man, you corner carvers really can tear up equipment! I knew that you routinely shredded tires and melted down brakes and rotors but I had no idea that hard driving could bend and break suspension bits. Now I know for a fact how slowly I drive in the curves because, to the best of my knowledge, nothing has bent in my stock OEM suspension in the 85000+ miles that I have driven my car.
