At the conclusion of the Cruizin' With Johnny Rockets Camarillo meet on Sunday, September 5, West Coast GearHeads planned a cruise to the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. The Library had given us discount flyers to hand out to attendees at the meet. We invited the Movie Star Cars to join us and we had a great cruise under sunny skies to Simi Valley.
Upon arriving at the Library, we drove around to a rear parking lot by the Air Force One Pavilion. We parked our cars with a breath-taking scenic backdrop of the Simi Valley hills. After a picture-taking session, we all walked to the entrance of the Library and started our tour.
A large portion of the Library is still under renovation but we were still able to see the President Reagan's grave, a section of the Berlin Wall, a complete replica of the Oval Office, Air Force One Pavilion, an incredible antique & famous motorcycle display, a fabulous miniature White House model and the Museum that displayed gifts that had been given to President Reagan.
President Reagan's grave site and surrounding views.
Massive photo boards are mounted around the hallways of the Library. Here are also photos of the exact replica of Reagan's Oval Office. I love the desk and apparently, so does Obama, he is using the same one during his Presidency.
As you enter the Air Force One Pavilion, you are immediately looking at a huge jet liner! Just thinking of the mechanics involved to bring the jet in there is mind boggling to say the least! Air Force One is a beautiful aircraft and I am so pleased it is here for us to see. We had a family photo taken as we stepped into Air Force One, which we bought a copy of a while later. It's a pretty cool souvenir! (Plus, photos are not allowed inside Air Force One.) Other photos show the President's motorcade and helicopter.
