I went to bed about 5:45am (new time), was almost going to just stay up.
When I woke up this morning and got your text about not making it out, I texted Glenn then hopped back into bed for a minute. I thought I put it on Vibe but set it for Silent in my half awakedness. Woops.
So when are you REALLY going to cruise out?![]()
Wow, you were up LATE! I'm shocked you even text me around 10am!
Thinking I will try and make the last Sunday of the month meet. That's always the best day to go anyway.

I am sorry but I have to stay in character and tell you that the video is not smooth and the sound sounds like ___. A $100 camera is really a false economy when it does not capture the priceless sounds of a $60K automobile, and when the video is not smooth, and when a $300 GoPro HD would do such a better job. Saving a few hundred dollars makes no sense in this day and age since that is barely the price of a couple of times out to a restaurant. Plus the GoPro HD, in additon to world's better sound, would shoot at 1080p resolution and the playback would be 1920X1080 and smooth. I know that I should not post this negative feed back and feel free to flame me back as you see fit, but, I don't use my Hero Wide anymore since it is no better than your new camera and the HD cam is tons better. I also like the fact that I just plug the new HD GoPro into the USB port and it recharges it battery pack. I got tired of buying batteries for the original GoPro.
I came back later to delete or edit my post and discovered that this board does not allow that. So, the post has to stand although it was harsher than I intended it to be. Must have been my meds. I have a bad habit of thinking that my evaluations/comments have merit but, in fact, there are a lot of factors to be considered, and generally I should keep my opinions to myself if they appear negative. It appears that the expectations of those that view youtube videos are not necessarily too high since not everyone views them in HD and also many people really do not have good speakers so sound may not be too important either. So, for most viewers, the Epic results would work just fine.
I also see that I could edit this post so the edit feature exists but it has a short fuse compared to some boards.

HA HA!
Hey, it's all good. I appreciate the honest feedback. I know the Go Pro kicks the poop out of the Epic's video and sound quality. I had no illusions it would be as good, simply due to the Epic's price. Yes, the $100 would have been better spent towards a Go Pro HD, but curiosity is a good enough excuse for me to spend some toy money. The money I have on this Epic camera has still been fun. But, I do see a Go Pro HD puchase in my future. It's nice to know I have a fairly disposable video camera for now though too!
The only part of your response that was off is the value of my R. GOD, do I wish it was worth 60K. HA HA!

When I speak of $60K cars, I am not really speaking of their current value on the market. I am thinking about, in my case at least, what I, the owner, have invested. As for cameras, the entire video camera experience has warped me, I am afraid. I had to upgrade my computer, which ended up costing too much, and I had to migrate to 64 bit W7, which is still a work in progress, and I went through two GoPro's since I got the original Hero Wide, and then the HD came out. Now they are tempting me with a new back for the HD that has a display and who knows what else they will come up with? So, I sort of lost my sense of humor about video cams since I ended up so immersed in the technical aspects of video that I became a bit too picky. It should be all about fun or why do it?
Exactly, Pat, it should all be about fun! NOW GO HAVE A MARGARITA AND RELAX!!!
I got to visit the Gopro offices this weekend, they are seriously impressive, located on the peninsula within walking distance of the Ritz Carlton / the ocean / my parents house in Ocean Colony in Half Moon Bay, CA (~20 miles west of SFO airport, the ocean side of the peninsula).
They look to have just bought out 2/3 of the office building they are located in and were in the middle of renovating the bottom floor.
I walked in with my rusty broken camera, and walked out with a new sealed one all shinyGreat customer service.
kind of hard to find the place, as the building was completely unmarked until you got inside. Oh and all the cars in the parking lot had the "Gopro, be a hero!" bumper stickers slapped all over them, haha
