Once I get the insurance money from the cobra I'm planning on getting a KB for the GT. Now the question is should I get a non-intercooled or intercooled kit? The intercooled kit is $1000 more.

depends on how much it is to buy a better intercooler and stuff
ask rusty (stangfreak) he has a KB and did buy a better intercooler
Intercooled kits put out more power and extend the engine life unlike non-intercooled.Originally Posted by Glenn_03Cobra

Unless you're running very low boost levels, I would say go for the intercooled kit.
Outside of me being a smart alek, I agree with RonDogg

Your IAT2s will be much cooler, less chance for detonation. Your bottom end will thank you.Originally Posted by 1EVLPNY

Intercooled is the only way to go with a KB. You would not believe how much heat the twin screw generates. After just driving around town and not getting into boost, the compressor housing is too hot to even touch. It will stay hot for several hours. I upgraded my heat exchanger to an AFCO dual pass and I think that helped with the IATs quite a bit. I have the 10 PSI pulley and the big tube kit and I see 11 PSI of boost.

Good article Rusty, it was really helpful.Your intercooler is huge compared to the KB one! How much did that run you?

I got it from Lethal Performance. It runs about $300. The one KB includes in the kit is a factory 03-04 Cobra unit with some home made KB mounting brackets. I got my 2.1 used and the guy didn't send the mounting brackets. Since I had to fab up some any way I decided to change out the HE as well.Originally Posted by 1EVLPNY

Cool, I might get that, just don't feel like making mounting brackets. I like plug and play lol.![]()

Mounting brackets were no big deal. I spent $10 at Lowe's on some aluminum flat stock, used a hack saw to cut to length, drilled a few holes and had the pieces welded onto the heat exchanger.Originally Posted by 1EVLPNY
