The West Coast GearHeads Crew was on site at the Fabulous Fords Forever Car Show at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA on Sunday April 10th, 2011. Just under 1,700 awesome Ford cars and trucks attended and they brought some great weather with them. This year's FFF car show celebrated anniversaries of four models - Pantera (40th), Pinto (40th), Bronco (45th), and the Econoline Van (50th). The Fabulous Fords Forever Car Show is sponsored by the Southern California Ford Dealers and organized by Ford Car Clubs all over SoCal. This is a non-profit car show that brings an awesome display of privately owned Ford cars and trucks to one place for all to see.
This show is a bit different from others. No competition, no stress, and no swap meet. It's simply a place for passionate Ford GearHeads to show-off their cars. Most of the cars and trucks at the show were extraordinary with lots of performance mods. However, there were many restored, unrestored, and project cars on display as well. This is one show where you can appreciate every car without comparing it to the car next to it. Every exhibitor we spoke with was eager to share their story, you could hear the love for their car in their voice.
On display in the main area were several chosen anniversary cars such as the Pantera, Pinto, Bronco, and Econoline Van. A Ford display not only had the new car line-up, but the Parnelli Jones #15 Mustang that he raced back in the 70's.
Just on the other side of the display area, you could find information booths for each of the organizing clubs of the show. In their booths were information flyers, club apparel, and friendly club representatives that could answer questions about their club and how you could become a member or participate in their upcoming events. You can find a list of the car clubs that plan, organize, and implement the car show at the Fabulous Fords Forever Car Show's official site -> http://www.FabulousFordsForever.org and click the "Organizing Clubs" link in the menu on the left.
In the larger show area, we found Steve Saleen at his SMS SuperCars booth with several cars on display. Right across from his booth were tons of privately owned Saleen Mustangs.
The 26 clubs that participated in this year's show are known as The Ford Car Club Council, led by Frank Morales (President of The Orange County Mustang Club). They have officers and committees that work all year long preparing for this car event. Each month, club presidents, vice-presidents, and other club representatives meet to discuss and plan their one event for the following year. The Council is busiest during the week prior to the show. On Saturday April 9th volunteers gathered to stuff all the goody bags for the exhibitors, which included a wall clock (with the Fabulous Fords Forever banner for 2011), several event flyers, and vendor info. Exhibitors were also treated to a free t-shirt, when they picked-up their goody bags on the day of the show.
Like clockwork 200+ volunteers meet at 6:00am with assignments in hand for parking detail. Within 3-hours (7:00-10:00am), just under 1,700 cars were parked and ready to go. From the time exhibitors enter the gate at 7:00am 'til every last car is parked at 10:00am, cars were guided to their parking area in the large Knotts Berry Farm parking lot right across from the main entrance of the Knotts park itself.
Exhibitors and spectators were treated to the background view of some of the famous Knotts Berry Farm rides and attractions. Volunteers were pleasant and helpful getting the show experience off to an excellent start.
This is certainly a family show from start to finish
Special Appearances at the show include Parnelli Jones, Carroll Shelby, Steve Saleen, and Linda Vaughn.
Kudos to the Ford Car Club Council for a "Fabulous" show and a job well done!
