This coming up Sunday, May 1, Tri-County Mustang Club will be meeting at Wood Ranch at the Pacific View Mall (corner of Mills Rd & Main St, Ventura) and cruising to The Cheesecake Factory for brunch at The Oaks Mall. After brunch, we will be cruising through the beautiful homes and scenery around Lake Sherwood on Potrero Road to end up at Cal State Channel Islands in Camarillo. Please post up here if you are able to go!
10:00am: meet at the Wood Ranch parking lot at the Pacific View Mall
10:15am: depart via the 101 Freeway SOUTH to the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks. Take the Lynn Road exit and go left over the freeway to Hillcrest Dr. Destination is The Cheesecake Factory located on the backside of the mall at 442 W. Hillcrest Dr. 805-371-9705.
Approx 12 noon or so: depart via the 101 Freeway SOUTH to S. Westlake Blvd. Keep to the right and we will continue on to Potrero Rd, cruise along Lake Sherwood, see beautiful homes and scenery, and eventually end up behind Cal State Channel Islands in Camarillo. From that point, we will head to Las Posas Rd and at the freeway, we will all go our separate ways. I will guess-timate the cruise will take about 45 minutes.
Some interesting info about Lake Sherwood:
"Lake Sherwood, originally Potrero Lake, is the oldest man-made lake in California. It was built in 1904 and is approximately 165 acres. It was changed to Lake Sherwood when the surrounding areas, used for the filming of "Robin Hood" starring Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., in 1921, became known as "Sherwood Forest" and "Maid Marian Park."
Inside the gates of Sherwood is the "Robin Hood Cabin," a home built for the movie and it is rumored that Fairbanks lived there while filming "Robin Hood." It is a registered Ventura County Historical Landmark."
Be sure to bring your GoPro cameras, video recorders and hand held cameras!
