I installed one of these last weekend in my `97 fobra.

Back story, the car does not have the factory keyless wiring harness installed in it, so I wasn't able to add a factory keyless system, which is what I would prefer.

When I bought the car it had a crimestopper CS2004 2-way alarm which is a big steaming pile, the biggest problem is the 2-way remote fob runs on a coin cell battery and lasts all of a month of daily driving

so I looked into 2-way alarms, and everybody kept repeating the same thing everywhere, buy something in the DEI (directed electronics) brand, which is viper, audiovox, python, and maybe a couple others.

I settled on the Viper 350 2-way because of the great value ($130 for the base alarm at amazon.com), and the features. Also the 2-way remote uses a normal AAA battery so replacement is easy, and AAA's have 10x the mah capacity of a coin cell. It also had about the longest range of any of the 2-way systems I could find, and it has the option of buying a device that will tie into an iphone for remote alerts for even further range.

For this install, I also purchased a DEI backup battery unit, which basically charges off the car's power, and the alarm runs off the backup battery, so if somebody cuts the car battery the alarm will go off if armed, and the alarm will still sound with no power to the car.
I also bought a DEI tilt sensor, which resets itself each time when armed, and will trigger the alarm if somebody jacks the car up to steal a wheel, or tries to tow it.

I also needed 3 relay's and relay sockets, 2 for the door locks (one to lock, one to unlock), and 1 for the trunk pop.

All totaled it ran about $180 through amazon.com

Once I ripped out the old alarm, which according to the carfax on my car was installed at a subaru dealership in 2002...The install was pretty straight forward, about 15 wires or so, www.the12volt.com has the wire colors and locations to tap into for pretty much any car.

Range is great, I have a solid signal in the 2nd floor in any office of my building at work with my car parked in the far corner of the lot, I've already received a warning trigger when it was really windy last week, apparently the car was rocking pretty good!

When armed, the starter and fuel pump can't turn on, opening a door, opening the trunk, opening the hood, lifting the car, shaking the car, or cutting the battery will all trigger the alarm to go off, which sets off an alarm to the 2-way receiver in my pocket. No relying on other people who will just ignored the siren going off, I can run out there and regulate myself with my new mossberg

Another nice feature is when you start the car, the doors all lock, and when you turn the key to off the doors all unlock. The same can be done with a couple relays to cars with factory keyless, which I plan to on my harley truck, as the back doors need to be unlocked in order to open from the inside, so like if you have packages or people in the back seat you need to remember to hit unlock when you get out of the front in order to get them out, would be nice to just have them unlocked when the truck turns off.
