    BangaStang: MGP Caliper Covers

    Source: Bangastangblog.blogspot.com

Two years ago while attending a Car Cruise Night in Chula Vista California I saw a 2007 Mustang GT with what I thought was a set of big brakes behind the factory 18X9 Bullitt wheels. After stopping the
owner of the car and asking him what kind of brakes he had the owner explained to me that his Mustang had Caliper Covers not big brakes. My first thought was....what Caliper Covers! I had never heard or seen anything like this, a cover for the brake caliper. The owner of the Mustang explained to me that his neighbor had been working on the product for a few years. Well curiosity got the best of me and I gave the owner my business card to pass on to his neighbor. That evening while sitting at home I wondered what a innovative car accessory.

Two days later I received a phone call from Mike Barland President of MGP Caliper Covers who invited me down to his manufacturing facility outside of San Diego California. My first impression of Mike Barland was a man that thinks outside of the box. Barland has an extensive background in manufacturing that dates back two generations in his family. Barland has manufactured everything from golf clubs to aerospace parts. After talking with Barland for a few hours I agreed to have a set of MGP Caliper Covers installed on my 2006 Mustang GT. Now I will admit I was a little apprehensive about having a such a new product installed on my Mustang but Barland told me he had been working on the product for a few years and there was no need to worry.

After rolling out a floor jack, a lug wrench and a feeler gauge the Caliper Covers were on my Mustang
in less than an hour. I've installed my parts on numerous cars over my 49 years and I don't think I've
ever seen such an easy installation. The MGP Caliper Covers attach with a metal clips and some screws. You would wonder how can you attach a cover to a brake caliper? MGP does wihout using
    special glue or any drilling.

Next was the road test, which took a few minutes at various speeds. No noise, no rubbing and no drama. The covers were on with no hiccups.

What impressed me the most about the MGP Caliper Covers were the way they made my wheels pop
with color. The Caliper Covers are made from 6061 T-6 aluminum are powder coated and
available in three finishes red, black and satin. For the car enthusiast that really wants some bling
MGP will even custom paint or engrave the Caliper Covers to your desire.

Now here's the question for the car enthusiast....why buy a set of MGP Caliper Covers? Here's the
answer.....it's a dress up accessory. Just like a set of window louvers, a hood scoops or rear spoiler.
Caliper Covers are just another way to dress up your car. Let face it brake calipers are not the most
appealing part of car especially after suffering from winter salt and other elements. Some people
chose to paint their brake calipers. From personal experience painting your brake calipers takes several hours for prepping and painting. The durability of brake caliper paint is very short lived.

MGP Caliper Covers first designed Caliper Covers for the 2005-2009 Ford Mustang but their
product line now includes Corvette, Nissan 350Z, BMW, Saturn Sky, Chrysler 300, Magnum,
Charger, Challenger, GMC SUVs and many other vehicles.

MGP has also secured licensing from Ford Motor Company as well as GM. So you Mustang
owners that would like the Mustang logo on your Caliper Covers MGP can provide that for you.

It's been two year since the MGP Caliper Covers were installed on my Mustang and they have been trouble free.

Bangastang.com carries several of the MGP Caliper Covers for the Ford Mustangs to see a selection

Their getting pretty popular. Last year at SEMA, they showed how easy they are to install. They started with just Mustangs, Corvettes, etc. But, last year they had a ton on display for a variety of car models.
